Located along the Federal Highway is one building with a very unique design and modern structure. The Menara Telekom is located opposite of the Angkasapuri building not far from MidValley Shopping Centre. It is the headquarters for the TM Group, Malaysia’s leading telecommunications company which started construction in 1998.
Menara Telekom took 3 years to build and was completed in 2001 which stands at 310 meters. It is not the tallest building in Kuala Lumpur but is surely one of the most unique around the vicinity. Menara Telekom is designed to look like a bamboo shoot by Hijjas Kasturi Associates, one of the most prominent architects in Malaysia.
Korean construction company Daewoo Construction was in charge of enacting the building which was then officiated by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the prime minister at that time. What makes Menara Telekom so prominent is that it has 55 floors of office space that house international companies and corporations like Henkel Malaysia, BASF, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, Hapag-Lloyd, Unilever, Takaful Malaysia as well as Tenaga Nasional’s IT department.
Apart from that, there is a 2,500 audience theater, a large surau as well as its own sports complex while there are 22 skygardens located on ever 3 floor intervals. From a distance, Menara Telekom looks like a sail and when it illuminates at night, the building is very captivating. On the fascia of the building is a large LED screen which is used to play videos and advertising messages which can be seen by vehicles and motorists along Federal Highway.
